The ADIRO was created on February 2, 2000. Since then, there have been six trips of humanitarian aid to Nicaragua thanks to the “Quebec-Nicaragua Solidarity” projects, implemented by the organization.
Groups of youths between 18 and 25 years of age have stayed with Nicaraguan families for a month, while participating in a project to develop the community. Thus, projects such as the construction of a community center, the clearance and planting of a field of papayas, a reforestation plan, have seen the light in the second poorest country (financially speaking) in the American continent.
The ADIRO constantly organises lectures, shows, and fund raising dinners
to keep the population of the Outaouais informed about the international
development, and to encourage their participation in the development of
countries that are very rich in human and family values.
The objectives pursued by the Agency for the population of the Outaouais are the following:
favorecer la apertura a la realidad internacional;
crear conciencia sobre la situación de los países en vías
de desarrollo;
participar en el desarrollo duradero de los países en vías
de desarrollo;
ofrecer ayuda de emergencia en caso de desastre a los países en
vías de desarrollo.
